ACS middle and high school students celebrated the good news of Christ’s birth through instrumental and vocal music at the Upper School Christmas Concert on Tuesday, December 5. From behind the curtain in a darkened room, the high school wind ensemble opened the evening with a hauntingly beautiful rendition of “O Come, O Come Immanuel.” As the lights came up, they were joined by the combined middle school and high school bands. The bands presented four songs, including toe-tapper “We Wish You a Rockin’ Christmas,” before the wind ensemble closed the first half of the show with three more selections.

The combined middle and high school chorales then took the stage, inviting the audience to join in a sing-a-long medley of Christmas favorites, each led by the chorale and a student soloist. The chorales also presented “Celebrate the Day,” a powerful 10-song cantata highlighted by renditions of “My Soul Magnifies the Lord,” “God With Us,” and “We Are the Reason.” The program was skillfully narrated by 7th grader Paige Noble and featured solos and duets by nine different students.
