Parent Teacher Fellowship
The Parent Teacher Fellowship (PTF) is a volunteer service organization of Atlantic Christian School. Anyone can be involved in the PTF — parents, guardians, host families, grandparents, alumni parents, and teachers. The PTF actively promotes Christian fellowship among the faculty, staff, parents, and friends of Atlantic Christian School through a variety of school events. The PTF also seeks to be an encourager to teachers and students, sponsors fund-raising activities to help meet the material needs of the school, and sponsors essay contests to provide year-end scholarships to 8th and 12th grade students.
The PTF Executive Board and Program Directors, elected each year in May, are responsible for planning and overseeing the various PTF activities. The school’s Events Coordinator is a liaison to the PTF Board.
The PTF Board meets monthly on the third Monday of each month immediately following the monthly teachers’ luncheon. PTF meeting attendance is not required to serve as a volunteer at school events or fundraisers.
PTF Volunteer Opportunities
- Event/Activity Support – Assist in the planning of our special events and/or serving at special events; assist with concession sales at athletic events; assist with the Servant’s Heart Club
- Helping Hands & Hearts– Organize used uniforms and clothing collected in lost and found; assist with outdoor grounds maintenance; read to students during library time; assist with large mailings
- Teacher Appreciation – Serve at monthly teacher luncheons (held the third Monday of each month) or bring in a dish to serve; Teacher Appreciation Week events; prayer partners
- Fundraising – Box Tops for Education; ShopRite Scrip Cards; Shoparoo; Chick-fil-A calendar sales; event fundraising
- Leadership – Serve on the PTF Executive Board or as a program director
Mondays are Philly Soft Pretzel Days — Philly Soft Pretzels are on sale every Monday for $1 each during lunch. This Parent-Teacher Fellowship fundraiser will be ongoing until the end of the school year. Please note that the pretzels are not part of the regular lunch menu and cannot be purchased online through Renweb.
Shoparoo Classroom Contest — The Parent-Teacher Fellowship is sponsoring a contest to encourage parents, family members, and friends to support ACS by using “Shoparoo.” Shoparoo is a cell phone app that can help you earn reward points for your child’s classroom when you shop at the grocery, fill up at the gas station, or make purchases at Target and other retailers. It doesn’t cost anything to participate. Just go to www.shoparoo.com, download the app on your cell phone, and start scanning your receipts of things that you would normally buy. Shoparoo will total up the sales from all the scanned receipts and the class with the highest percentage of sales per student by the end of the contest (August 2017) will earn the top prize. The PTF will present the winning classroom teacher with a check representing 10% of the school’s total Shoparoo sales.
2017 Chick-fil-A Cow Calendars –– Buy a 2017 calendar from ACS and get a Chick-fil-A sandwich, bowl of soup, or other menu item for free each month. Buy one for your family and buy more to give as gifts. These fun and popular calendars are available in the school office for $9 each. Help support ACS by participating in this Parent-Teacher Fellowship fundraiser.
