“The aim and final end of all music should be none other than the glory of God and the refreshment of the soul.”   — Johann Sebastian Bach

We believe music education is an important part of a well-rounded education and helps each student discover and develop his or her  God-given gifts and talents. ACS students can know, love, and serve God with music from the earliest ages through high school.

In PreK1, children are taught using a music-based developmental curriculum.  Throughout preschool, listening to music and learning Bible songs and nursery rhymes are incorporated into the weekly themes.  Elementary students in kindergarten through third grade have music instruction weekly, developing vocal skills as well as learning to play instruments.  In 4th and 5th grade students have the opportunity to learn to play an instrument in music class.  The students present concerts at Christmas and in the spring.

Student teams lead praise and worship during the weekly chapel services. Students in grades 6-12 can also participate in Chorale, Concert Band. and a Praise and Worship Team.

Vocal Music

In the 6th to 12th grades, students may join the Middle School or High School Chorales, under the direction of Artist In Residence Brian McSee and Mrs. Kelly Brown.  This elective class meets twice a week during the school year.  Students will sing a variety of choral music, including original songs written by Mr. McSee.  The students have the opportunity to share their gifts and talents with others as the choir travels to area nursing homes, libraries, and churches to sing and glorify God through music.  The Middle School and High School Chorales perform three major concerts annually in March, May, and December. In addition, the Chorales spread the message of God’s love and hope outside the school in churches, nursing homes, and at other community events.
