Huge Congratulations go out to both of our Varsity Basketball teams who each won the Tri-State Christian Athletic Conference Championship on March 1st at Cairn University.

The Varsity Girls had a tough match-up against Gloucester County Christian School who had split games with them during the regular season.  The team fought hard and defeated GCCC in a close game 32-27.  Junior Gianna Flynn led the Lady Cougars offensively with 22 points.  Senior Isabell Alford turned in an outstanding defensive performance shutting down GCCC’s leading scorer as well as scoring 7 points and grabbing 7 rebounds.

The Varsity Boys faced rival The King’s Christian School which is always an exciting game but this time had extra drama.  The Cougars were down 11 points in the fourth quarter and then Noah Stokes, Charlie Costello, Caden Kim and Jayden Sanchez hit a string of clutch three pointers to get back into the game which went to overtime.  The Cougars won in overtime, when Kings missed a three pointer that would have won the game.

Several ACS players earned League All-Star Awards which were announced at the end of the Championships.  Varsity Boys’ Coach and ACS Bible Teacher Paul Jones was named Co-Coach of the year along with the King’s Boys Coach, Pat Harvey.  For the players, Seniors Charlie Costello and Noah Stokers were named co-MVPs for the boys.  Juniors Gianna Flynn along with Charlie and Noah were named 1st Team All-Stars.  Senior Isabell Alford and Freshman Caelyn Domsic, Junior Caden Kim and Sophomore Ethan Costello were named 2nd team All-Stars.  Congratulations to these players for earning this recognition!!

Both teams will be competing in the National Christian School Athletic Association National Championship held at Mount Vernon Nazarene College in Mount Vernon, Ohio.  They will be competing against similar sized schools Wednesday-Saturday.  Go Cougars!  We will be cheering for you.
