On Saturday, April 5, the stage at Atlantic Christian School was transformed into the medieval land of Arrethtrae as students in grades 5 through 12—from ACS as well as some homeschoolers—performed a gripping dramatic production of Kingdom’s Dawn. Presented in partnership with The Academy of Arts, this allegorical play brought to life a compelling journey of faith, sacrifice, and calling, with a message that challenged hearts and minds.

Based on the popular Kingdom series by author Chuck Black, the play wove together stories from several of the books—including Kingdom’s Dawn, Kingdom’s Hope, Kingdom’s Edge, and Kingdom’s Reign. As good and evil clashed on stage, the audience was taken on a journey that paralleled biblical events from Genesis to Revelation.  The production illustrated the spiritual battle between the King and the forces of darkness.

Every moment of the play pointed to a greater truth—that even the most unlikely person can be used by God to accomplish great things. Through faith, courage, and obedience to the King, the characters ultimately reflected what it means to live a life fully committed to Christ.

The students spent their last couple of months prepping their lines and learning their stories.  Then, the Academy of Arts arrived and the students worked afterschool for 6 HOURS A DAY FOR ONE WEEK!  Not only did they learn to act, they learned the different aspects of presenting a show, getting hands-on experience doing costumes, stage make-up, lighting, sound, set design and more.  They also had a Bible Study every day as part of this “curriculum”.  Although it was a grueling week, the students worked hard and loved being part of the production.

Congratulations to our student cast and crew for their outstanding performances, and thank you to The Academy of Arts for partnering with ACS to present such a moving and memorable production.
