Registration is open for ACS students in grades 7-12 to join the High School Mock Trial Team. An informational lunch meeting will be held in the Computer Lab during High School Lunch on Tuesday, September 23rd. All interested students are encouraged to attend the meeting.

We’re Recruiting New Members Before the Case Drops!

The new case hinges on the crime of “swatting” (the false report of emergencies) at a coffee shop in the fictional city of Metropolitan. Coffee drinkers are invited to attend, but the ACS Mock Trial team maintains its longstanding tradition of hot chocolate breaks. Come prepared with a fun answer to the question: What are you most likely to go to jail for? (wrong answers only!)

All high school students may have a chance to assume a role of lawyer, witness, or juror. Middle school students (grades 7-8) may serve as members of the jury to learn the format/techniques. Jurors will be used in scrimmages and competitions. Click here to register online.

We are also looking for a new attorney coach to help us this year, so please reach out if you know a practicing or retired attorney who may be a good fit for our team.

Mock Trial is a Highly Valued Extracurricular Activity

The Vincent J. Apruzzese High School Mock Trial Competition is sponsored by the New Jersey State Bar Foundation (NJSBF). The Foundation conducts mock trial programs for grades 3 through high school. In addition, they offer a Courtroom Sketch Artist Contest and a Courtroom News Reporter Competition for high school students.

Mock Trial is a prestigious program, teaching students to become skillful in their communication, presentation, and knowledge. It’s a notable addition to a professional resume and will boost a college application. Seniors may be eligible for mock trial scholarships.

It’s also a great way to form friendships within our school, and meet people from other schools in the area. The competition begins at the county level and moves to regionals, semi-finals, and state finals. A national round begins in the spring with a new case.

Join our 2025-26 ACS Mock Trial Team!

The ACS Mock Trial program is entering its sixth consecutive year and we are getting more polished and more competitive as we go. The new case will drop in early/mid October so we will focus on objections and strategy until then, based on information that’s been reported so far.

Our practices will be held on Mondays and Fridays for one hour after school, starting the first week of October in the Computer Lab. Several team members will work on the case during our 8th period elective, but the elective but taking the elective is not a requirement to be part of the team.

Micah 6:8

He has shown you, O mortal, what is good.

And what does the Lord require of you?

To act justly and to love mercy

and to walk humbly with your God.
