Big congratulations to 8th grader Madelyn Petrinec for taking home the crown at our All School Spelling Bee which is an annual competition attended by parents, loved ones and students. Maddie has competed in the All School Spelling Bee for 5 of the 6 years that she has attended ACS winning four of those years! Due to her amazing success in this event, Maddie was awarded the Most Consistent Spelling All-Star award.
This year ACS had 21 students competing representing all 1st – 8th grades classes. All students earned their spot by winning or placing runner-up in their classroom bees in January. All students study the same 400 word list and have the opportunity to attend Spelling coaching sessions during January and February to prepare for the big event. Joey Kinch was awarded the Peer Coach Award for his work at these After School sessions and working/helping the younger children.
This year’s Spelling Bee went a total of 36 rounds with Maddie, 8th grader Joseph (Joey) Kinch and 5th grader Daniel Awad spelling 12 rounds of “blind” words which they were not able to study earlier. It was an exciting competition that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Maddie’s winning word was burrowed.
We would love to congratulate our entire 2026 All-Star Spelling team – you all made us proud!
