Congratulations to senior Ryleigh Martin for winning first place in this year’s ACS Christmas Card Art Design Contest. Her original art is being featured on the cover of our school’s 2023 Christmas card that was recently mailed to ACS friends, and supporters. Ryleigh’s card cover design, done with markers and colored pencils on cardstock, features a girl holding a globe with the nativity scene inside. The scripture verse from John 1:9 that is part of the design reads — “The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world.”
The ACS Christmas Card Design Contest is in its 7th year. A faculty-staff panel of judges chose Ryleigh’s design for first place out of over 30 designs submitted by students from the 9th-12th grades. In addition to Ryleigh, five other students were recognized for their outstanding designs: 2nd place – Aine Dorsey (11th grade); 3rd place tie – Kalee Tardif (9th grade) and Abigail Kelley (9th grade); Honorable mention – Sophia Capito (9th grade) and Lucy Huff (9th grade).
Thank you to art teachers Genevieve Huff and Patti Scardilli for overseeing this annual contest that gives our students the opportunity to use their God-given artistic abilities to create a design that has a visual impact and shares a Biblical message about the birth of Christ.
The top five Christmas card designs will be on display in December and January on a large school bulletin board in the main school hallway adjacent to the Multi-Purpose Room. We will highlight one card each day on Facebook and Instagram leading up to Christmas.
