ACS celebrated Homecoming 2026 on Friday, October 16, bringing together students, families, alumni, staff, and friends for an evening of soccer, school spirit, and special recognitions.
The ACS Varsity Girls’ and Boys’ Soccer Teams gave Cougar fans plenty to cheer about, with both teams earning victories over Veritas Christian Academy. The Varsity Girls won 4–1, followed by a 6–1 victory by the Varsity Boys.
Adding to the festivities were performances by the 5th Grade Bucket Drummers and Varsity Cheerleaders, while the Upper School Choir sang the National Anthem before both games. The Intramural Cheerleaders also joined in the excitement, cheering on the Varsity Girls from the sidelines.
Homecoming King and Queen Crowned
One of the evening’s highlights was the recognition of the 2026 Senior Homecoming Court. The young ladies were escorted by their fathers, while the young men were accompanied by their mothers. The Homecoming Court included seniors Gabe Correa, Aiden Cortes (not present), Luke Odell, Ethan Warren, Josh Weeks, Ashlee Alford, Mackenzie Flynn, Abby Kelley, Isabella Santos, and Shelby Tomlinson. Seniors Gabe Correa and Abby Kelley were crowned the 2026 Homecoming King and Queen.
ACS Honors Alumna with Jersey Retirement
Another memorable moment was the retirement of basketball jersey #35 in honor of ACS alumna Shereesha Richards James (’12) during a special halftime ceremony.
ACS alumna Jodi Kelley Crane (’10), whose own Varsity Girls’ Basketball jersey #5 was retired several years ago, presented Shereesha’s jersey in a display case. Joining Shereesha for the recognition were former Athletic Director/Coach Pam Hitchner, family members, and fellow alumni who knew or played alongside her.
During her three years as an All-Star forward at ACS, Shereesha helped lead the Lady Cougars to three Tri-State Christian Athletic Conference championships and two national championships.
She continued her basketball career at the Division I University at Albany, where she holds multiple scoring records including All-time women’s basketball scoring record. She helped lead Albany to four consecutive NCAA Tournament appearances. She later played professionally in Spain and Australia and represented Jamaica on its Women’s National Basketball Team.
Throughout the evening, the ACS community enjoyed time together, cheering on the Cougars and celebrating the school’s students and alumni. We also praise God for His provision, as a rain storm held off until seconds after the final soccer game!
Thank you to everyone who attended, participated, volunteered, and helped make Homecoming 2026 a wonderful time. We are grateful for the continued support of our ACS families, alumni, and friends.
