2024 Cougar Camp Highlights

What a wonderful summer it has been! Cougar Camp wrapped up the season on Friday, August 23, with a Cougar Camp BBQ, where families enjoyed a time of fellowship. We also introduced our dedicated camp counselors and shared a brief recap video of memorable moments.

In addition to exciting weekly themes, lake days, engaging activities, and Pastor Time, our campers had the privilege of visiting fun destinations such as the King Pin Bowling, Somers Point Beach, Wetlands Institute, Young’s Skating Center, Adventure Bound Campground, Popcorn Park, Estell Manor Park, and Offshore Adventure Miniature Golf.

We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to our Camp Directors, Dyane Mathias and Sydney Pearson, along with our counselors, volunteers, and pastors from local churches, for making this summer truly memorable. To our campers, we pray you have a great school year, and we look forward to seeing you again next summer!

ACS Wins Best of the Press 2022 Awards in Three Categories

We’re in the Winner’s Circle! Atlantic Christian School was a big winner in the Press of Atlantic City’s 2022 Readers’ Choice Awards, placing in three categories — for Best Child Daycare Center, Best Summer Camp, and Best Place to Work. The award winners were announced on Sunday, November 6 and published in a special pull-out section in The Press of Atlantic City.

Our summer Cougar Camp and our Early Education Center both received 2nd place Silver Medals and ACS received a 3rd place Bronze Medal in the category of “Best Place to Work.”

Thank you to our ACS families and the many friends in our community who voted online in two rounds of the contest from July-September. Our desire is to honor God in everything we do as we serve our students, our school families, and our local community.

This past summer, children entering grades 1 to 7 enjoyed a 9-week Cougar Camp program that included field trips to the Cape May Zoo, King Pin Bowling, Estell Manor Park, and other fun and educational destinations, water foam fun, STEM activities, swimming at the lake at Sleepy Hollow Family Campground, working in the school garden, sports, Bible stories and worship, and much more. We’re very proud of our Cougar Camp staff, led by faculty member Eric Tardif, and our Early Education teachers and aides, led by Early Ed Director and Elementary Principal Gail Alford, for their dedication and love for each of the students who are in these programs.

Award-Winning Summer Programs Start June 27; Register Now to Reserve Your Child’s Spot

Registration is now open for our popular, award-winning summer camp programs — “Cougar Camp” for children entering grades 1-7 and “Down the Shore” for children from PreK3 to entering kindergarten. Over a nine-week period, qualified and trained staff will provide a warm, loving environment with organized activities tied to weekly themes that will combine faith, fun, fellowship, exercise, and education.  Our summer camp programs have been recognized for excellence, winning “Best of the Press” awards since 2017.

The Cougar Camp and Down the Shore program hours will be from 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., with Before and After Care available and included in the camp fee.  All participants must bring their own lunch, but every Friday is pizza day (cost is included in fee). Snacks are also provided daily.

Cougar Camp activities will run from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.  Favorite activities include STEM projects, playing ga-ga ball in the air-conditioned gymnasium, drawing and painting, hands-on learning in the school garden, cooking healthy snacks, and plenty of outdoor water play activities. Worshiping God through music and Bible story time are also part of the daily program. Weekly field trips include visiting the Atlantic City Aquarium, Birch Grove Park, and the Funny Farm Rescue, and going miniature golfing and bowling.

Children in the Down the Shore summer program must be at least 3 years old by June 1 and be potty-trained. Preschoolers look forward to the weekly “Water Day” where they enjoy playing in inflatable water slides and pools.
