Some 50 ACS students, teachers, staff, parents, and even a few grandparents gathered around the school’s flagpoles during the early morning of September 28 to pray for ACS,  for the local community, and the leaders of our country. The special time of prayer was part of  “See You at the Pole,” a national event held on school campuses across the country. High school praise and worship band teacher Dakota Mason opened the gathering with several worship songs. Young people and adults took turns at the microphone to pray, some giving thanks, others mentioning specific needs, and some asking for God’s mercy and forgiveness. High school Bible teacher Joe Rowell reminded those gathered of the importance of prayer as described in 2 Chronicles 7:14 — “If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.” Later in the morning, students in the preschool classes and their teachers also made their way to the flagpole area to spend time in prayer.
