Firefighters and a ladder truck from the Scullville Volunteer Fire Company visited ACS on Friday, October 14. October is National Fire Prevention Month and elementary lead teacher Gail Alford invited the firefighters to give the students a hands-on lesson in practical fire safety and prevention tips. Students from preschool to the 5th grade learned about calling 911 in an emergency, the importance of smoke detectors, and being sure to “Stop, Drop, and Roll” (and cover your face) in the event of a fire. The students also got a close-up look at the different firefighting tools, hoses, and ladders on the truck. Firefighters from Ocean View’s station in Dennis Township also made a presentation in Mrs. Costello’s PreK3 class.
