Sixth grade students in Mrs. Coates’ American history class have been learning all about the Civil War, culminating in a class project where each student created a memory box highlighting the life of a person who lived during that era or a Civil War-era event. Last week, the students gave oral presentations where they shared the contents of their boxes with their classmates. Maddie DeNick, pictured below left, dressed up as Harriet Beecher Stowe for her presentation and Jared Johnson, pictured below right, made a memory box in the shape of cabin that was described in Harriet Beecher Stowe’s book, Uncle Tom’s Cabin.
