Congratulations to four ACS band students who have been selected to participate in the South Jersey Elementary Honor Band. Pictured, from left, are: Makayla Tomlinson (oboe), Ryleigh Martin (1st trumpet); Band Director Shirlene Perini; Allison Amadio (1st clarinet); and Jackson Gayeski (percussion).The Honor Band will be presenting a concert at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, at Shawnee High School in Medford, New Jersey. The South Jersey Band and Orchestra Directors’ Association (SJBODA) sponsors this event every spring for outstanding band students in grades 4-6. Students from all over South Jersey are nominated by their directors. A committee of SJBODA members reviews the nominations and selects students according to ability and instrumentation to fill three bands, each with 95 members. All four of the ACS students will be in the Red Band and are now learning special music for the concert on April 28.
