The Middle School Girls’ Softball team made school history this week, finishing their season undefeated and in first place in the Atlantic Cape Junior High League. The team celebrated its winning 10-0 season on Wednesday, May 30 after defeating Cape Trinity 36 to 8. The team was led by 6th grader Michaela Schlemo as pitcher and consistent hitting from Allison Amadio (catcher-6th), Maddie DeNick (center field-7th), Evangelina Kim (shortstop/2nd base-6th), Kendall Murphy (1st base-6th), who had two home runs,  Paige Noble (shortstop/2nd base-7th), and Tiana Phillips (3rd base-7th). The other players on the 15-member team were: Daniella Ajayi, Elisha-Michelle Epps, Alli Lushina, Tiffany Park, Annia Pierre, Alli Schlundt, Anabelle Vanacker, and Lillian Vanacker. Head coach Mike Bohs said the team’s skillful fielding and aggressive base running, even stealing home, also contributed to the team’s success. Congratulations to Coach Bohs, in his first year as head coach, assistant coach Kelly Schlundt, and manager Elizabeth Alford for a memorable season.

The Middle School Boys’ Baseball team also had a successful season, posting 6 wins and 4 losses in the Atlantic Cape Junior High League, improving by 3 wins over last year’s record. The team was led by strong pitching from 8th grader Sam Cooney and solid hitting from 7th grade shortstop Robby Barberio, 6th grade catcher Jackson Gayeski, and 8th grade left fielder Cole Lewis. The other players on the 12-member team were: Jake DeNick, Tommy Ellison, Kevin Frontino, Cruz Lewis, Evan Pearson, Dylan Reilly, Quinn Schrag, Caleb Vogel.
