The Varsity Boys’ Baseball team is No.1 and won its third straight Tri-State Christian Athletic Conference title in the championship game on June 2, defeating Gloucester County Christian 13-5. The Cougars went undefeated all season and is making school history with its amazing record over the past three years — going 41 and 3! The Girls’ Varsity softball team also finished the season strong, beating Cumberland Christian 11-4 in the TSCAC playoff consolation game. They finished in 3rd place in the league, after going undefeated in the regular season.
ACS players also swept the TSCAC MVP awards. Junior and co-captain Ryan Lomangino, who struck out 10 as the winning pitcher in the championship baseball game, received the baseball MVP award and senior Abigail Vogel, team captain and shortstop on the softball team, was named league MVP in softball. We’re so proud of the hard work and exceptional effort from all our players throughout the season.
Six other ACS players were named TSCAC All-Stars. On the Varsity Baseball team — junior and co-captain catcher Elijah Chapman; junior and co-captain shortstop and pitcher Solomon Griffith, who had four hits including a double and triple in the championship game; and sophomore 1st baseman Dan Roland, who had two hits, two runs, and two RBIs on Saturday. On the Varsity Softball team — freshman catcher Olivia Chapman, who was 2 for 3 with two doubles and two RBIs in the consolation game; freshman at 1st base Sydney Pearson who led ACS in the consolation game going 3 for 4 with two doubles and an RBI; and senior Samantha Rhodes, who struck out 12 as the winning pitchers on Saturday.
Thank you to all our coaches for a memorable season — head baseball coach Ray Picking and assistant coaches Kevin Iaconelli, Carl Phillips, and Charlie Rhodes, and head softball coach Dara Kimmerley and assistant coaches Lori Pearson and Terry Vogel.
