ACS teachers have been working hard this week preparing their classrooms to be a warm, loving, and welcoming place for their students. On Monday and Tuesday, current and new teachers and staff attended in-service training and workshops where they had an opportunity to get acquainted, review school policies and procedures, and focus on this year’s spiritual development theme verse in James 1:22 — “Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says.” Chief School Administrator Karen Oblen shared the news that due to a significant and exciting growth in enrollment, 14 new employees had been added to the ACS faculty/staff (pictured above).
Each in-service session began with worship and devotions. ACS Business Administrator Kelly Flynn, ACS Facilities Director Bill Smallwood, staff member Lee Martin, Sojourn Community Church Pastor Sean Griffith, and Board Chair Doug Pearson provided inspiration and encouragement through the worship songs and the spoken word, urging teachers and staff to lead by example and to continue to invest in the lives and hearts of every student. Teachers and staff also received practical training at various workshops including one on differentiated learning. Delicious breakfasts and lunches were generously provided by the Parent Teacher Fellowship and the Board of Directors.
