On Friday, May 9 we said goodbye to a member of the ACS family and Mr. Genter’s zoo. Tortilla, Mr. Genter’s 16 year old African Spurred Tortoise, has been at ACS for 10 years in the Life Sciences room upstairs. However, Tortilla is young so needed a better home to roam and grow for years and years (up to 150) to come. Mr. Genter delivered her to a Tortoise Farm where she will live with over tortoises and have the space that she needs to thrive.
ACS’s enrichment class for 3rd-6th graders went to feed and pet Tortilla and say goodbye. These students have enrichment activities every Friday with Mrs. Santos in addition to their regular classroom.
Thank you Mr. Genter for teaching our students how animals are part of God’s creation and how to responsibly take care of them!! Hundreds of alumni and current students will remember Tortilla the Tortoise in their classroom.
