Celebrating Generations: A Recap of Grandparent Appreciation Day at ACS

There were lots of smiles and hugs as our students from preschool to high school welcomed their grandparents to our campus on Wednesday, November 22, for our annual Grandparent Appreciation Day.

Over 500 grandparents attended the event and were able to visit with students and attend chapel, featuring performances from our Kindergarten Classes, 5th Grade Worship Team, and PK4 Classes.

ACS Grandparents William and Brenda Maurer delivered the chapel’s special message. Grandparents to seven ACS students, the Maurers thanked ACS for coming alongside their commitment to raising their grandchildren in the Christian faith. Brenda Maurer, also an ACS Lunchroom volunteer, encouraged everyone to volunteer and witness what she herself observed – how teachers, staff, and other volunteers pour into the lives of the students at ACS on a daily basis.

Thank you, grandparents, for joining us at the event and for the vital role you play in shaping the lives of our students.

Nov. 19 Grandparents Appreciation Day Postponed to Spring 2022

To protect the health and safety of our ACS grandparents, the school administration has decided to postpone the Grandparents Appreciation Day event scheduled for Friday, November 19 to the spring of 2022.  ACS grandparents and school families will be informed of the new date, once it is determined.

Each fall, ACS students look forward to honoring their grandparents and welcoming them to a special Grandparents Day Chapel on the ACS campus. Last year, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Grandparents Day was not held as an in-person event. Unfortunately, a year later, the COVID-19 virus is still having a significant impact.

“We are all disappointed that we cannot be together on November 19, but we look forward to welcoming our grandparents to ACS for Grandparents Day next spring,” said Chief School Administrator Karen Oblen. An email announcing the postponement of the event was sent to parents, faculty, and staff on October 29.
