The event will include breakfast and a student-led chapel. Invitations are being mailed to local churches. Please feel free to forward the invitation below to your church pastor.

Pastor Appreciation Day Gives ACS Students an Opportunity to Honor, Thank Their Pastors

We love our pastors! Nearly 50 pastors and ministry leaders from churches across South Jersey were treated to breakfast and a student-led chapel for Pastor Appreciation Day on February 16.  It was a special time for ACS students to honor and thank their pastors for the important role they play as their spiritual leaders and mentors. Pastors and students spent time together at breakfast, worshipping in chapel, and posing for group photos after chapel.

Pastor Mat Mouliert of Crossroads Fellowship Church shared an encouraging message with the pastors during breakfast. 12th grader Sam Glancey spoke during the chapel program about the importance of being trained to go out and share the gospel and thanked the pastors for discipling and training the next generation and encouraged them “to do more of what you are already doing.”

During his breakfast remarks, Pastor Mat shared some of the lessons he has learned during his five-year battle with cancer.  “Suffering happens to all of us and God wants us to glorify Him through our suffering,” Pastor Mat said. “Suffering builds perseverance and character and also opens doors that would never be available to us otherwise.”

The chapel also included performances to bless our pastors by the PreK4 students, the Kindergarten students, the 5th Grade Band, the 5th Grade Worship Team, and the High School Worship Team. Students in elementary classes also created several hundred unique, hand-written thank-you cards that were given to the pastors to take back with them.

Thank you to the parent and staff volunteers who donated food and served at the Pastor Breakfast.

ACS Students Show their Love and Appreciation for their Pastors

We love our pastors! ACS students and staff showed their love and appreciation for their pastors at a Pastor Appreciation Breakfast and Chapel on Thursday, Feb. 17. ACS students attend over 115 different churches across South Jersey.

Pastor Tony Montemurro of Calvary Chapel Gateway gave an encouraging message to the some 30 pastors who attended the Pastor’s Breakfast. A number of students also had the opportunity to talk and share with pastors at the breakfast. ACS elementary and high school students spent several weeks during art class creating beautiful artwork in honor of the pastors that were displayed on every breakfast table. Hand-written thank-you messages from students to their pastors were also given to the pastors who attended the breakfast and later mailed to those who were unable to attend.

During the student-led chapel, which followed the breakfast, featured speaker 11th grader Hunter Jorgenson also thanked the pastors for being strong spiritual leaders and mentors.  Jorgenson shared about what he learned during a personal devotion reading through the book of 1st Corinthians.  “All of us face daily struggles, even our pastors, but the Bible says that our toil, efforts, struggle and pain are not in vain, because in the end we will received the prize of eternal life,” Jorgenson said.

The chapel also featured various students from preschool to high school worshiping God and expressing their love and appreciation for their pastors through instrumental and vocal presentations, reciting scripture, and a special video in which students talk about why they love their pastors and churches.   CLICK HERE to view the video, which is posted on the ACS YouTube Channel.

New Life Assembly Pastor Treats ACS Students to Free Frosties

New Life Assembly Pastor Jon Serbin – “The Frosty Guy.”

New Life Assembly Pastor Jonathan Serbin has a unique way of building relationships with students at ACS and other area schools — he visits them at school during lunch and hands out free Frosties from Wendy’s. Pastor Jon, also known as PJ, stopped by ACS during lunch on Thursday, January 16 to hand out vanilla and chocolate Frosties to 6th to 12th grade students and to just spend time talking with them.

Affectionately known by ACS students as “The Frosty Guy,” Pastor Jon started his generous gesture about two years ago. He now hands out free Wendy’s Frosties about twice a month to students at ACS as well as other area schools, including students in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes Clubs at the Egg Harbor Township and Mainland High Schools.

“The reason I do this is because students don’t care about what you know until they know that you care,” Pastor Jon said. “One of the best ways to show that you care is to spend money on them and handing out Frosties gives me an opportunity to speak into their lives.” Pastor Jon began serving on staff at New Life Assembly of Egg Harbor Township in 2013 as the Youth Pastor. During 2017, Pastor Jon was transitioned into the Next Generation Pastoral role and now oversees birth through college age. He is a graduate of Valley Forge Christian College with a Bachelor’s in youth ministry and a minor in counseling.

ACS looks forward to thanking and honoring Pastor Jon and other area pastors and ministry leaders for the important role they play in our students’ lives at our upcoming Pastor Appreciation Day on February 12.

At different points in the program, Event Coordinator and program emcee Jessica Martin shared with the pastors heart-felt messages written by various students about why they love their church and pastors. The chapel program concluded with 12th grader Francis Johnson talking about the important, transformative role that pastors, ministry leaders, and missionaries play in the lives of each person with whom they come in contact, and then closed with prayer. After chapel, the students had fun taking pictures and talking with their pastors.

During breakfast, the pastors received a presentation on the impact of technology and social media on the family. They watched video clips from Kirk Cameron’s “Connect” movie and Pastor Sean Griffith of Sojourn Community Church shared his insights on the topic. Each pastor/ministry leader also received a special gift of a cotton-ball decorated paper sheep made by ACS PreK3 students.
