On December 11, our Kindergarten–Third Grade students blessed families and friends with a joyful performance of Away in a Mango. This lively musical tells the story of passengers on a holiday cruise who are swept ashore on a tropical island. The story centers on the ship’s captain, played by 3rd grader Rhys Kelley, who headed a cast of 14 students as they discovered lessons about kindness, hope, and the true meaning of Christmas. The musical reminds us that just as the castaways needed to be rescued, God sent Jesus to rescue us and bring new life.
The K–3 students did a wonderful job singing their songs with hand motions, bells, and expressive storytelling. Their enthusiasm and teamwork made the program a beautiful celebration of Christmas and its true meaning.
The production was adapted and directed by K–12 Music Teacher Mrs. Elizabeth Henigan. Elementary Principal Sara Coates opened the program in prayer, and Board member Grant Kelly encouraged families to support the Christmas Love Offering benefiting our ACS teachers. If you who would still like to participate in the Christmas Love Offering may give online at:

A special thank you goes out to Lee Martin for directing sound and lights, our stage crew Ceci Tormey (7th) and Brianna Shull (7th), and our K–3 teachers for their dedication and hard work in preparing this memorable Christmas program.
