On Monday, April 22, seven high school students from Mr. Quinn’s Honors Physics and Honors Chemistry classes attended the Federal Aviation Administration’s Aviation STEM Day at the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Egg Harbor Township. Students were able to explore several information booths, interactive displays, and technology demonstrations which highlighted the research of the Technical Center as well as various STEM careers. FAA employees throughout the exhibitions shared information regarding their backgrounds, educational journeys, and paths that brought them to their current careers. Students also attended an Aviation Career Panel featuring a diverse group of professionals who engaged with students in a question and answer session and gave information about the many internship possibilities through the FAA’s Gateways Program. While there, students were able to connect with current ACS parent and former faculty member, Mr. Mike Capito, who gave information about his job at the Tech Center as well as encouraged students to explore all the opportunities the STEM field and Tech Center have to offer.
