K-5th grade students in the after-school Intramural Cheerleading class had the unique advantage of learning cheer with their very own mentors! For the past six weeks, twelve Varsity Cheerleaders, under the supervision of staff member Morgan Gibson, partnered with eleven Intramural Cheerleaders. This gave each younger student more one-on-one time to learn cheers and also allowed each the opportunity to stunt as a flyer. “The Intramural Cheerleaders were not the only ones to benefit from this buddy system,” added Mrs. Gibson. “The older girls learned about the responsibility of teaching and mentoring someone else.” Both the Varsity and Intramural Cheerleaders performed over 15 cheers together during the February 16 Varsity Girls’ basketball game.
