There were birds flying, with lots of attempts at smashes, hairpin drops, and aces, as our 6th-12th grade girls perfected their badminton skills this week during PE classes. “It’s one of our girls’ favorite units in PE and it can get very competitive,” said Athletic Director Pam Hitchner. The competition was at its height by the end of the week, when the 8th-12th grade girls competed in a two-day doubles tournament. The winning teams, made up of 2 or 3 players, were: Lindsey Ash, Alyssa Holliday, and Kathryn Winder, (11th-12th grade level); Hyewon (Amy) Ki and Haoshen (Katherine) Kong (9th-10th grade level); and Bailey DeLuca, Sara One, and Yariah Wilkins (8th grade level).
